Sleeping Bag

The sleeping bag is, perhaps, the most crucial piece of equipment the students will carry. The bag must do the job of keeping you warm through the night. Down filled bags are not allowed because down will not insulate when it gets wet and our sleeping bags always seem to get wet, despite our best efforts.

Two weeks before the sophomores leave for the trip, their gear for the trip will be checked by the staff. We look carefully at the loft of the sleeping bag. When the bag is shaken out and laid out on the ground, it should be at least 10 centimeters or four inches thick. Anything less is certain to be too cold, despite what a salesperson, anxious for a sale, might tell you.

There are a limited number of sleeping bags which are available for rental. Ask Mr. Norton for details.
