Superior Conjunction

In this planetary alignment, the planet moves through a point in its orbit so that the Sun is between it and the Earth. Each of the other planets can be placed in superior conjunction at some time or another. The innermost planets, Mercury and Venus, pass through superior conjunction quite often. The outer planets are in superior conjunction about once a year. By the way, with the superior planets, we just call it conjunction, rather than superior conjunction. It means the same thing.

Remember, keeping track of these alignments is mainly for the pupose of positional astronomy. There is no way that one could actually observe any planet at superior conjunction.
