Facts about The Sun
The Sun is on its way south, about to reach its maximum distance south of the celestial equator. So those of us in the northern hemisphere have noticed fewer and fewer hours of daylight for the last couple of months. The Sun will seem to stand still on its journey when it reaches the solstice on the twenty-second of this month.
There are hardly any spots to be seen on the surface of the Sun, although their number will be on the rise for the next few years.

And here some other images taken at different wavelengths. If you have a properly filtered telescope, you will see that there are a good number of sunspots to be seen on the Sun right now.
