Frost on the Pumpkin
October is a good month for amateur astronomers. The number of dark hours has increased, and the first magnitude stars of the winter Milky Way begin to appear in the evening. What we call the Summer Triangle, consisting of the three bright stars Vega, Deneb, and Altair, is directly overhead for Northern Hemisphere observers soon after sunset.
