If you look for the Big Dipper these days, you will find it low in the north-northeast, descending to the horizon soon after sunset. The Big Dipper, as it is known in America, is perhaps the most famous asterism in the sky. This group of seven stars is actually just part of the constelation of Ursa Major, the Great Bear. Do you know why we find the Great Bear in this part of the sky at this time of year?
