Long Cool Nights
The last week of November is the dark of the Moon this particular November. If you want dark skies with no interference from the light of the Moon, you should observe on those dates. Fair weather observers in the northern hemisphere often are too cozy at night to venture out into the cool autumn nights. That is unfortunate, because the winter Milky Way is a sight to see.
On the morning of Wednesday, the 17th, observers may be treated to the Leonid meteor shower. This is a dependable annual event. Lately, this shower has been active and you may see a storm of meteors this year if you are lucky enough to have clear skies.
