The Observer

Deep and Dark December

December is a wonderful month for observing the night sky. Unfortunately for most northern hemisphere observers, it is far too cold for all but the most dedicated sky gazer. The longest night of the year is on the twenty-first of the month. Here in Michigan, we have fifteen hours of darkness. The Milky Way through Orion is awe inspiring.

The Geminid meteor shower should be a treat, if the skies are clear, from the evening of the 13th over the morning of the 14th.
